    Hello Friends,

I have a very serious issue.
I am trying to install a new copy of WP on my server.
My site was compromised yesterday and after trying many things and many hours to remedy this I decided to delete everything related to my site in the root folder and start over.

I am now attempting to install a fresh copy of WP on my server with Cpanel and re-build. After entering my new Administrator-username & Password then selecting Install WordPress
Instead of installing as it normally does I get the following:

Access denied for user ‘ibrand’@’localhost’ (using password: YES)

If anyone can help me through this, I would be extremely grateful.

Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer to me.
    Web url is: http://i-brand.ca/

  • This is telling you that the password and user name you are using to access the database are not correct.

Go to cpanel, select mysql databases and add a new user account to the database (with a nice secure password) when you have added the new user don’t forget to grant permissions “All” to the new account.

Then use the new username and password for your install. Probably a good idea to delete old db usernames after being hacked.

    Thank you very kindly 2001web.
I appreciate your advice very much!

What you suggested was pretty much what I did.
I then got a clean (new) install of WP and uploaded via FTP.

I ran through wp-config.php to set up the install from the browser.
Golly was I glad when it loaded up.

    Thank you again, 2001web!
