Getting Stuff Onto Right and Left Side

Hi folks,
I’m not a huge computer expert here, so I hope to get some assist. I want to have links and content on both sides of the blog. For example, I’d love to have the external links on the left side and the internal links to other parts of my website on the right side. How do I accomplish this?
