fonts displaying significantly differently between browsers

Hi – I am customizing a child theme and am having the hardest time getting the font of the navigation to display relatively predictably between browsers and operating systems! This is resulting in my nav bar breaking sometimes, depending on the variables stated.

I am using PT Sans Narrow. Has anyone else run into trouble with this font and how did you work around this problem?
