   Experienced instabilities, possibly due to other plugins or corruption in my wp installation.

   now trying yellow swordfish menus. so far, looks and functions great.

   Yes. Yellow swordfish menu is must-have excellent plugin. WordPress should have like this by default.

   I'm not experiencing any instabilities, at least with the last version 2.5.2. It seems to look cooler and be faster than other similar plugins right now.

   Better yet, you could try Admin Drop Down Menu by Ozh. It is lighter because it doesn't have icons for every link and also has the comment bubble.

   @nonhocapito: There isn't even a 2.5.1 version out yet.
