After activating themes getting 500 error?

    Hi there. I am running a theme on my wordpress site that is ready to be upgraded. So, I wanted to activate a different theme like twentythirteen to delete the old theme and upload my new theme. However, right when I activated twentythirteen my site goes into a 500 server error. I paid to get my site restored back to its original state thinking I screwed something up with this process, but when I tried again it did the exact same thing. Any thoughts on what is not letting me activate another theme?

    ■switching to the Twenty Twelve theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. If you can’t log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only one is twentytwelve. That will force your site to use it.
