  • Same here. Was working fine when I initially installed the plugin last week. Now a random image, not the featured image, is being pulled for the thumbnail.

Hey, thanks for this heads up!

I would strongly suggest you both to try our other related posts plugin called ‘Related Posts by Zemanta’, which is basically identical to the one you already installed, just that it uses a different thumbnailer (the one responsible for extracting thumbnails from your images) — most of our user testing reported that it should work much better than this one with specific blogs (like yours).

Also — remember to first deactivate (or delete) this plugin that you have already installed before proceeding with the next installation.

And do let me know how it goes or if you need any additional assistance — I’ll be more than glad to help you out!

Take care & I’m looking forward to your reply!

    Best,

This is disappointing. So in order to make a plugin work that is displayed in wordpress plugin collection, we are instructed to go and install ANOTHER plugin because the first plugin doesn’t actually work as intended.

The second plugin forces us to join a service and display your logo.

Seems a bit like a “bait and switch” to me.

    Thanks, but no thanks.

Hey, we’re really sorry to hear you disappointed, but we have adopted the principle of having three “release channels”:

    – one is this plugin you already installed called WordPress Related Posts,
    – the second one is the one I forwarded you to (called Related Posts by Zemanta) and which requires a registration,
    – and the third one is the most basic one called Related Posts (and which requires no registration at all).

Since we are working really hard to cover all the technical specifications of all blogs out there (which is no small task), we can now —in the meantime— only redirect our users to our other plugins, which have different thumbnailers; which hopefully extract their images correctly.

I can of course completely understand if you do not wish to create an account with our service, but in this case I would recommend you to try our third option — the Related Posts plugin (no registration required). Here’s the link if you wish to try it out:

As said before — we are working hard to fix our thumbnailer that’ll fit all websites out there, but I’m afraid this is taking us longer than expected.

We do however try our best to find some workaround for our users and to help them as much as we can.

Please do let me know if you have any more questions or if you need any kind of additional assistance — I’m here to help!

Take care & I’m looking forward to your reply!

Thanks for the quick reply, Silvo.

I’m gonna try the other other options recommended by you.

    All the best,
    Alex

Thank you for support your great plugin!

I have installed this plugin “WordPress Related Posts” and “Related Posts by Zemanta” recommend by Silvo.
however both plugin are shown in many cases default random images…

I want show thumbnails from the post’s images or “own” default image. (JPG 150×150)

I tried upload of own default image(JPEG and PNG, 150×150 size), but can’t show the own images, and can’t change the plugin default random images.

Own images uploaded from plugin dashboard below,
“For posts without images, a default image will be shown.
You can upload your own default image here [upload button]”

after that I did click the button of “save changes” .

    My version and settings…
    WordPress 3.6 + WordPress Related Posts 2.8
WordPress 3.6 + Related Posts by Zemanta 1.6
    Wordpress dashboard > setting > media > thumbnails W150xH150

    Can you help me, please.

    Many Thanks,

    Hi again, Silvo

So I have installed the plugin “Related Posts by Zemanta”, as recommended by you, but the problem persists.

    I took a screencap of it: http://blog.scielo.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Untitled-2.png

    Can you help me, please?

    Many thanks!

Hey Alex, have you tried switching to the older version of our plugin? You can find it at the ‘Developers’ tab:

Let me know if this worked in any way or if the problem persists — I’m sure we’ll find a way to get the proper thumbnails back!

Take care & have a nice day!

    Best,
    Silvo

I’m currently using the “Channel” Theme and initially had a problem when I tried to view in in the two categories, “Recent Posts” and on another Category.

I’ve deleted and redone the posts both text and picture, changed pictures with no result. The Pictures are showing in the actual view of the post which is a little odd.

This has happened before and only on occasion . . . strange stuff.

    Hey Discman,

thanks for reaching out! Would you be so kind and give me the link to your blog so that I can take a closer look?

Take care and have a nice day,

    Petra
