After 3.6 upgrade slides disappear from home page

My WordPress web site has been up and running fine for several years. Despite my aversion to upgrading, I yesterday upgraded to version 3.6. Instantly my slides disappeared from my home page, rendering the home page almost blank. What do i do to get the slides back on? Now I cant even find “Home Page” in the admin tools of the dashboard. Help! This is exactly the reason why I avoid upgrades.
