Linking custom template page and server directory folder

    I hope someone might understand this question.

    I have created a news.php template page. So, when I go to mysite.com/news it shows all the posts under the category “news.”

    However, I also want to create a directory folder on the server called “news.” (The reason why is to add a second sitemap to that folder.)

    When I make the folder, the url mysite.com/news just shows an empty file directory.

    Is there any way to configure the two so the template page and news folder show the same content?
