Just added the product search by using the widget. The search field displays properly, but when I type in a search term that I know ought to return a lot of results, I get “No products found which match your selection.” The search terms I’ve tried have been words in the product name and in the product description.

I installed the plugin Search by SKU for WooCommerce, so when I search by SKU, I do get results.

Any ideas on what’s going on?

I just did this on my setup and it works fine…

It seems like it should just kind go on auto-pilot, so I’m pretty perplexed. Do I need to do anything to “activate” the search?

No, it is a simple WordPress search…

Weird… And I’m already using Relevanssi for searching a different part of the site, so my go-to alternative search isn’t an option.

    Anyone else have a clue?

Try search everything plugin…you can find it in wordpress plugins repo.

make sure your options in relevanssi are setup and you can use relevanssi for searching woocommerce, just make sure you add the flag for products

    “&post_type=product”

The trouble is that I have two searches going on, and they need to give different results. WooCommerce is functioning as a catalogue on my site, and I want that search to only search products. However Relevanssi is searching the main part of the site, and I don’t want it to search the products because it would get too many results, obscuring the the other pages that are more relevant for most users.

    “&post_type=product”

@samueljeden: Ca you tell me where/how to add this flag to each product??

My solution for my original problem was to modify the “Search by SKU” plugin to also search by title, since I wasn’t getting that native WooCommerce search functionality.

@rcards, under Settings>Relevanssi>Indexing Options, you can choose product and product variation post types to index. Then just update the index and you should be set. I did not have to use what samueljeden wrote at all. (I have Relevanssi searching products on a subsite, and it works perfectly.)
