Explorer hyperlink issue

Site works well in all browsers except explorer. For some reason Explorer is defaulting href image links to source image instead of URL when dealing with external links.
When I hover over the image it actually shows me the correct link, but once I click image then it redirects to source image instead of link.
Please help.
I tried disabling each plugin, eliminating any new code in functions.php, I updated to most recent WP, tried taking out Child Theme…but no luck.
