Support » Plugin: WordPress Gallery Plugin - NextGEN Gallery » A few problems with 2.0.0 (thumbnail gaps, thumbnail alignment & thumbnail size)

  • I had a few problems and had to downgrade to the previous version…

    1. The gaps between images are slightly larger, so despite all my thumbnails being the perfect size to get 3 in each row, I then got 2 in a row with the third on the line below by itself. Can the gap between the thumbnails either become the same size or can it become customizable?

    2. The columns don’t seem to be aligned on the main page that shows the thumbnails. i.e. I had 3 landscape images on one row and 3 portrait images on the row below – in old version they used to line up vertically in columns, but in new version all the portraits are as far to the left as they can be, so the third portrait isn’t lined up with the third landscape at all.

    3. When I set the thumbnail size to 185×185, they seem to generate thumbnails 183×183…

I have therefore downgraded to the latest “1” release.

  • For number 1, try this out : http://wordpress.org/support/topic/solution-for-messed-up-thumbnails.

For 2… at the same URL there’s a solution but which works not Firefox (actually).

Thanks for the hints… also though, here’s 3 and again (with a new 4 added!):

    3. When I set the thumbnail size to 185×185, they seem to generate thumbnails 183×183…

    4. When I upgraded to 2.0.0, my pages with [nggallery id=xxx] tags in them took very long to load compared to the old version!

So… questions 1, 2, 3 and 4 – have these all been resolved in the latest nextgen version (i.e. 2.0.40)?

    Anyone know the answers??

@fishsponge – There have been quite a few releases since the original release of the 2.0 branch of the plugin … and I believe most of your concerns would have been addressed along the way.

Have you tried the latest version to see for yourself? That would be the best test in my opinion … if possible use a “test” site to ensure your “live” site is not impacted by any changes until you see for yourself all is well.

    Thanks!

I haven’t tried it on a test site, because it won’t have the same plugins and the same number of pictures… hence why I want to know if all 4 issues are now actually resolved (i.e. the slowness, question 4, is the main issue).

Has the “slow issue” definitely been fixed? Lots of other people have been having this issue too…

I guess I could backup my entire web site and the database, and then install it as a test, but that’s going to take a long time…!
