What is the best practice for SEO on a wordpress blog? So I put in php code in the header to tell search engines nofollow, noindex for archive pages? Should it be follow, noindex?

Posted 1 year ago #Just use 'noindex' on pages you don't want search engines to store. There is no 'follow' for the robots meta content.

Posted 1 year ago #pretty sure he's asking if there IS a reason to 'not want' SE's to go there. Any possibly duplicate content trips or PR bleed by linking to various categories of the same posts. I was wondering this as well

Posted 1 year ago #If the only concern is purely an SEO one (which I wish was not the case), then yes there are good reasons to notify search engine crawlers to avoid indexing any archival areas of your site.
Another option is to keep theses areas short and to the point, for example providing just title and summary content for posts listed in those sections of your blog, thereby avoiding the 'duplicate content' issue.
