Support » Fixing WordPress » Junk links added to latest post

  • Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice.
Our blog at work seems to have been ‘attacked/hijacked’ by someone. The latest post seems to have a load of junk links posted with it and we are not too sure how to fix this problem (or how it got there). We have deleted the latest post then added a new post and the junk links still re-appear.

Here is a link to the blog http://www.pslplan.co.uk/blog

Many thanks for your time and suggestions.
    Kind regards,

    Richard

Probably hacked your code directly. Most likely the theme. You’ll have to find the bad links and remove them yourself.

And upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. If you’re running old code, then you’re running vulnerable code. Never run old code.

    Hello Otto 42,

Many thanks for the quick reply. I am a novice with using anything beyond adding posts to the blog. I was wondering what does a ‘bad link’ look like?

I will upgrade when I get into the office in the morning.

    With kind regards,
    Richard

You already know what it looks like, you’ve got a couple hundred right there. 🙂

Just look through your theme files for those junk links. When you find them, remove them or post back here and we’ll try to give you more specific instructions. I can’t be more specific without more specific information about exactly where the problem is.

    Gotcha, thanks again Otto 42.

    All the best,

    Rich
