  • Ever since 3.5 upgrade we’ve had nothing but problems with the Media Manager being extremely slow. it’s all my sites that run wordpress. Anyone have any idea how to fix this slowness? It’s almost making me want to move away from WordPress entirely.

  • Does this occur using the default unedited theme and no plugins?

I have not tried that Seacoast, because I’m running different themes on different sites. It seems to be an overall issue, some are slower than others. I’ve noticed the more high quality pictures, the more painfully slow the media manager becomes. I’ve got complaints from people due to the speed issues.

I use a Dreamhost VPS if that has anything to do with it.

Yea it is super slow for me as well. Only on one of my sites, though. Even a small 86kb file took me 10 minutes to upload. It’s not my internet because I have a 50mpbs down/20mpbs up speed. My server has many sites and I am no where near close to filling up my 150GB server, so I think it has to do with WordPress. I think it has something to do with the amount of content the site has on it. Only thing that comes to mind.

The site has 13 writers and we upload generally 2 or more pictures per post. The site has close to 300 posts. Wish I could figure it out.

@elevatemindz, have you considered upgrading WordPress? Your slowness may be due to using WordPress v.3.5.2.

WordPress runs fine for me and is fine for many others and can handle enterprise level demands primarily due to it being a PHP/MySQL app. I’m quite sure the amount of content isn’t the issue or many others would be complaining.

VPS’s are great! If configured correctly. RAM on a VPS is much more relevant as is the PHP configuration and OS configuration 🙂
