• I am using WordPres Twenty Twelve theme.
When I upload an image – it says recommended size is 960 x 250.
however, the size on my website after uploading looks to be this size: 960 x 123
(and no I didn’t use the crop tool when uploading – i ignored this).
    ?
Why does it say 960×250 if it crops at 960×123?

Also it makes a copy of each image uploaded too n Media..?

    thanks.

  • Can you please tell me what the size of your original image was?

Any file you upload to WordPress is loaded as a Media file. In the future if you need to use that file again you don’t have to upload it again.

This is the page in the Codex that explains how media files are stored.

the original image size – used to be around 1900 x 250 (double this size: 960×250).
But because my WordPress theme (twentyTwelve) didn’t seem to go beyond 960 width, and resized it at 960×123 I then decided to upload future images with these dimensions.
It’s not a major problem (i’m happy with the proportions) just wondered why it says 960×123 – or perhaps its because that’s the maximum allowed for each dimension.
