Is there a way to deactivate Google Ping's?

Sometimes, it’s useful to be able to publish posts, then update them if I find a mistake. I’d rather submit a new sitemap to Google once I’m sure the pages are in final form.

Is there a way to turn off the Google Pings?

It may not be an issue if Google usually takes a couple days to get around to indexing the urls. Everything will always be set by that delay. Still, I think I’d prefer manual control.
