What is "Page link to:" select good for?

- WP & NextGEN both up to date, no NG upgrade
- MySQL 5.5.x, PHP 5.4.x, mod_rewrite activated, php safe mode - irrelevant since php 5.4.x
- localhost, my own theme (for testing using Twenty Ten), activated only NextGEN
- browser cache cleared

I’ve not found anywhere what is the “Page link to:” select list in an admin gallery settings page good for? Thanks
