In the past few months we have received more and more reports from Jetpack users using mostly European hosting providers, and receiving that “Empty Jetpack ID” error. It took us a while to reproduce the issue, as it was specific to a few hosts using the GnuTLS library with cURL.
But we think we may have found a solution to this problem, and we’ve committed a fix that should solve everything in the upcoming Jetpack release.
If you’d like to test the fix on a few of your sites, you could install the Beta version of the plugin, available for download here:
http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/jetpack.2.3.2b1.zip
Let me know if it helps.
Hi Jeremy,
I ran into the same jetpack_id error. Location: Netherlands.
I tried the beta but no luck: I get exactly the same error.
Hi Jeremy,
I tried again after an hour and this time it worked. No more error, connecting to wp.com went fine. I don’t know if you changed anything, here I did install another plugin in the meantime. That couldn’t have made the difference, could it?
I didn’t make any changes to your site, but I’m glad to hear the Beta worked! 🙂 All our tests seem to be ok so far, so we’ll probably release the next version of Jetpack very soon.
