• Looks like a neat, attractively presented plugin. I’ve been envious of WPBeginner’s share bar for a while, so pleased to see this appear.

Unfortunately on my site it rolls off the top of the screen when I scroll down so it loses its “floatiness”. Not sure if that is a problem with the Woothemes Canvas theme I’m using or not.. or if it’s something I can tweak?

Ignore that! Disabling another plugin has fixed the problem. 🙂

Dontcha love that when that happens?

@gcluley which plugin did you disable?

Floating Social Bar “floats” for me in FF, but not in Chrome or Safari.

I disabled WPSocialite to get Floating Social Bar to work on my theme.

(Obviously WPSocialite performs a similar function so I wasn’t planning to keep both)

However, I’ve since found that Floating Social Bar doesn’t really present itself beautifully on mobile themes. It looks great on desktop themes, but not so hot on iPhones etc. For that reason, I’d probably only use it if I had the capability of easily disabling it on mobile devices.

@gcluley – I’ve found that it does NOT stay sticky in place on Mac OSX with both Safari and Chrome.

It only seems to work with Firefox.

I will be sticking with Digg Digg for now.

Thanks for the tip about mobile. I’m happy with Genesis, and it’s built-in mobile responsive look.

@gcluley – we added the support smaller resolutions (responsive designs), so the bar doesn’t float. However you can add a simple @media query right now to display: none the entire thing for smaller resolutions if you like.

We do have plans on making it better in the future releases by adding a toggle share menu for smaller resolutions to better support responsive design.

@ocmega – I have not been able to replicate your error. I have tried it on Windows (Firefox, Chrome, IE) and Mac (Chrome and Safari). With our default install running the Twenty Twelve theme and no other plugins, this seems to work fine.

This leads me to believe that this is some sort of JavaScript conflict that is being caused by another script that is being loaded by a plugin or theme that you are using. Would be happy to look at it for you if you email me using the WPBeginner contact form.

I know it’s a old topic, but it’s related. I fixed the combination of using both WPSocialite & Floating Social Bar. WPSocialite includes the latest Socialite.

Therefor I removed the socialite part from the javascript file in the Floating Social Bar plugin. The file is called ‘fsb.js’. Remove/comment the upper part saying

    Socialite v1.0…

and the line what begins with:

    window.Socialite=(function(i,j,e){var f={},c={},l={}

Now both plugins are working great!
