• Site message: “Error establishing a database connection”

The site went down during a migration to new service provider, doing so has prevented my site from coming online for nearly 2 weeks.

The site had duplicate MYSQL databases, and who knows what is wrong with it. *I would like to move the site to a new host, but I am not sure how being that it has issues at the moment. I could backup the msql databases, but if those are corrupt, what good will that do? I have a successful backup of the wordpress site, downloaded through ftp.

Ive tried changing the passwords, and waiting for the current host to fix the problem, but everyday there is little to zero progress.

  • You can download the two duplicate databases and test locally if they work. If not, try and get and old backup form your web hosting company – most hosting companies do keep backups.

PS: In future, you should be responsible for backing up your own website. There are many plugins (free and commercial) that can accomplish the task for you seamlessly. One is WPBAckup
