Groups are not yet supported in MailChimp for WP but will be soon. If you really need group support I advice to stick with Newsletter Sign-Up for just a little longer.
I’ll let you know when I will finish writing the code for group support, probably somewhere at the end of this week!

Thank you, Danny! It’s totally worth waiting for. So appreciate your work on this plugin. It’s so easy to use and intuitive. Appreciate the ability to change the text by the checkbox–and to change whether it is checked by default.
Do you have plans to allow for the selection of multiple groups that commenters would be automatically subscribed to?
And I have no idea if this would be possible in future updates, but could they be subscribed to different groups depending on what category of post they commented on? i.e. they comment on a post about Facebook, they are subscribed to a group that sends out Facebook tips, etc.

You can now use groups. I did not implement this in the GUI for the Lite version of the plugin but the FAQ helps a bit on which fields you should use.
