• Hey there,

I keep getting this error “Error posting to Smush.it” whenever I automatically upload images (I’ve set it up for auto smushing). At the moment, I have my images being stored in a custom folder and not the wp-content/uploads folder because of the previous architecture we used to use before WP forced used to use that folder. I’m not sure if WP Smush.it is set to automatically smush content only to that folder or if they may be an error otherwise.

Can you tell me what logs I can check to possibly diagnose this problem?

    Hi there,

    Sorry for the delay here.

Are you able to smush images when adding them to the media library directly? Or do you still receive the same error.

What sort of hosting do you have?

    Thanks!

    Kind Regards
    Jack.

I get the same error when I upload it directly as well. When I resmush it (via the link given next to the error message) or bulk smush, it works fine.

I host with HostGator. Shared hosting, Apache type setup etc.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the additional information, are you using a CDN (Content Delivery network) at all?

As they aren’t compatible with the smush.it plugin, please advise.

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards
    Jack.

Well if it’s not supported by CDNs, then I guess I can’t go further with this discussion, even though when I tried it out, it was when our CDN was disabled.

    Hi @bcwint00

    I understand, that’s fair enough.

WPMU DEV took over the support of this plugin recently, at some point our developers might be able to improve it a little, but in the mean time we are just trying to make sure that it is well supported 🙂
