Unable to maintain Admin Panel Access when SSL forced

When Force SSL Administration is on and I point the ssl host (secure.example.com) to my secure subdomain I find that I can initially access the admin panel, but I can’t make any changes. I was forced to reset the plugin using the manual method. Also I noticed that when loading content using the SSL host an extra back slash gets added: “https://secure.example.com//wp-login.php”
