[object Error] when trying to post a comment in IE (8 posts)

Ajax Comment Posting is probably one of my favorit WP plugins. So easy to install and customize. But now I've run into a little problem regarding ACP v1.2.1 and Internet Explorer.

When trying to post a comment, and all the mandatory fields are filled in, I won't get the normal "Your comment has been added.". Instead I get a "[object Error]"-message in Internet Explorer. In Firefox everything works just fine. Weird!

I have the "An administrator must always approve the comment" enabled in WP, but I get the same error when it's disabled. The comment seems to register as it will appear in the "Comments -> Awaiting Moderation" even though IE prompts the error message.

Does anyone have a clue what the IE-error-message is all about?

When IE reports the error, it should also mention what file actually caused it. Is it acp.js or jquery.js? And does it provide you with an exact line number?

Cheers Regua, thanks for the quick reply!

IE usually does that, but with this error I just get a dialog box with the text "[object Error]", and when clicking on the little yellow triangle in the bottom left corner in IE the only info displayed is:

    Row: 1
    Char: 1
    Error: Syntax error
    Code: 0
URL: *the url to the post on my site when the error occured*

No one has reported this before? Might be local then?

    Some additional information:

I have now tried the my ACP-setup in IE, FF, Opera and Safari. IE is the only browser that prompts the [object Error]-message.

I've also been searching the net for a solution. It seems like there are a lot of people that get the same error message in various Ajax scripts. But, since I have very limited knowledge of Ajax (..and Java ..and XML) it's all greek to me. ;(

If it's a common Ajax problem, it may be jQuery's fault (jQuery is the JavaScript library that handles Ajax in ACP). Are you using Prototype.js library along with my plugin (in some other Ajax plugin or just alone)?

Did the OP find a solution as I am finding this issue too.

The source of my theme shows Wordpress is including prototype.js - I don't know what it is or if it's needed?

Please help, anyone. :) Ajax comments work in all other browsers. If there's no fix are there any workarounds?

The "object Error" problem was solved in the newest (1.2.3) version of the ACP plugin, at least that's what the beta testers have been reporting to me.

Sorry it took so long to get this sorted, but it was actually jQuery's fault...
