    Hi Brady
Your widget seems to be exactly what Im looking for. Simple, easy and clean – and a good description and support forum too. However, even if the description of how to make it work seemed so simple, I couldnt make it work at all!!!??? I already tried the first things that comes to mind like install another theme (like twenty ten) or inactivate all my other plugins etc and nothing helps. The theme I wold like to use to my website is CLarity from Themetrust and they dont have a specific template to the COntact Page. So I wanted to remove all the sidebars I use in the pages and add another one, specific for this perticular page, a google maps widget and maybe a featured image showing the architect office or something like that. It seemed so simple but nothing, absolutely nothing I do seem to work. I have tried many other plugings, I have written the creaters of the theme and they have given me codes to write into the CSS etc. etc. nothing seems to work. If you can help me I would be extremely grateful and donate to you. Pliiiizzeee!!!! (begging on my knees) My webadress is http://annearch.se and its this page I try to change sidebars on: http://annearch.se/kontakt/

Kid and desperate regards from Anne

    Hi Anne,

I’m not sure what the issue could be, but if you haven’t done so, you need to go to the Settings->Reading screen and select the sidebar name that pages use by default. This sidebar will be replaced with the custom sidebar that you create for your contact page.

Next, you need to edit your contact page and create a custom sidebar for it in the Sidebar meta box. After creating the new sidebar, go to Appearance->Widgets and you should see the new sidebar that you created. You then need to add a widget to that sidebar before it will show up on the frontend.

If you’re able to complete all those steps and the custom sidebar still doesn’t show on the frontend, then it may be due to the way your theme is built.

Let me know if that doesn’t help.

Same problem. I have done the reading setting and chosen the default menu for the website. It gets defined in the page and in the widgets page the sidebar gets created, but, it doesn’t get displayed. The quick edit always shows the default_sidebar and cannot be changed.

I am using the ThemeSoft Theme from ThemeFurnace and I am having the same problem. I have followed the steps outlined here in this forum and on the FAQ page but to now avail.
