• On the site
    http://www.friendsofraymond.org.uk
a private page which worked perfectly for months suddenly corrupted so that it displays only html, and is missing all the html up to and a bit beyond beyond the <body> tag. (Viewing the source code in a browser shows the same truncation).

    The page is
    friendsofraymond.org.uk/?page_id=1260

When I view this page logged in as Administrator, it is OK: viewing source code shows all the code present and correct.

I copied the text on the page within WP and pasted the text content to a new private page – same problem. See
    http://friendsofraymond.org.uk/?page_id=1462

Before the problem was brought to my attention I had just installed
    BAW Multipass for Protected Pages
although it was used added to problem pages. I have since deactivated that plugin, but that makes no difference.

My ISP has been having a few problems with its MySQL server…

Any ideas as to why this page corruption happened?

  • Look at the markup errors for the page in question.

Revert to Twenty Twelve theme and see if the errors still persist.

    Thanks Krishna.

There are 30 markup errors – they reflect perfectly the missing first chunk of the html.

Reverting to Twenty Twelve did not resolve the problem.

This suggests to me that the page was damaged on the server. I’ve got round the problem by making the page redundant on the site – but it’s worrying that this can happen.

I would suggest the following steps to overcome the above problem. You may switch back to your current settings afterwards.
    – Deactivate all plugins and switch to Twenty Twelve theme
reinstall WordPress manually from a freshly downloaded copy except wp-content. Do not overwrite files/ folders but delete them before reinstalling.
    – run the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php
Backup your site including database so that you can restore in case anything goes wrong.
