I installed your plugin on a test bed site and would like to share a few thoughts. This is not a trouble ticket, but feature suggestion.

I have read a few forum threads related to the styling of fancybox, they all indicate that in order to change any behavior or styling of FB one needs to edit the code or the CSS. Not that I would shy away from doing that, this is not a viable long term solution for your plugin. First, any plugin update will eliminate the changes. Second, while all other <name>Box presenters offer configuration settings that are tied to a UI doing this in the code is simply clumsy.

Do you plan to provide a settings UI for this plugin, free or premium versions? Why not use a regular installation of FB and hook on to that?

    Hi Cemal,

Thanks for using NextGEN Gallery Optimizer, and for your feature suggestion!

A UI for Fancybox settings and styling is definitely on the roadmap, and I look forward to developing it soon. I’m afraid this isn’t a priority for the next major release (v1.2 due shortly), but your feedback has helped prioritize it for v1.3.

    All the best,
    Mark.

This is a great plugin. Will definetly give it a try.

Thanks, Drexel! That’s very kind 🙂

    Hi Mark,

I am using NextGen gallery. I selected Fancy box but it wont save. It will work for about an hour then break. When I go back into gallery, more options” NO light box is selected vrs Fancy box. I have to keep re selecting fancy box for it to work. over and over again.

i have NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati, NextGEN Gallery Optimizer and Ng Gallery Optimizer Modified all installed and active. could that be causing a conflict?

    please help 🙂

    Hi Kelly,

Thanks for using NextGEN Gallery Optimizer!

The “NG Gallery Optimizer Modified” plugin is a complete plagiarization of my work (right down to the UI and documentation), and I would kindly ask that you delete it on principle. No permission was sought from the “author”, and they even replaced the copyright notice, taking full credit for development. Additionally, in careless oversight, the plugin’s minor extras only work for logged in admins! (ie…NONE of your visitors). Naturally support is non-existent, and I wouldn’t count on any updates either.

Sorry, just had to clear that up.

In regards to your saving issue, there’s a very good chance that plugin is causing a conflict as it’s running identical code in parallel. However, it sounds like you might be using NextGEN 2.0.x, which due to the fact it’s been completely rewritten, is currently unsupported.

I’m hard at work on optimization and Fancybox integration for the new NextGEN 2.0 as we speak, and hope to achieve full compatibility soon…

But in the meantime, you might like to roll-back to the more stable v1.9.13 codebase. Here’s a good step-by-step guide…

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Mark.
