I re-sized the entire layout. Moved it from 900 pixels wide to 790 pixels. I got almost everything but the content area to re-size. The background where the two sidebars and post area isn’t resizing no matter what I do. I may be doing it wrong. Basically, I’m trying to cut the white space behind the post area so that the sidebar on the right lines up.

    Here’s my stylesheet:

  • Your numbers don’t add up!

Your #left and #right have widths of 179px, and your #content has a width of 500px; that makes a total of 858px, not the 790px you’ve entered.

Alright, so if I want to keep my sidebars at 179px each, it would mean the difference of 858-790=68.

    500-68=432.

I changed the content to 432 pixels and nothing changed.

I am illiterate to CSS, so I have no idea what to do here.

I’m also not an expert; that was something that seemed like an obvious error. Apparently it wasn’t.

I’ve been looking at the CSS for my site which is also three column to see if that gives me any pointers, and one difference is that your #content sets a left margin of 179px and a right margin of 0px, whereas in mine the left and right margins are the same. Try setting both margins to 179px and see what happens.

Other than that I’d be reluctant to suggest any further changes because I wouldn’t want to break something else.

I tried to add the 179px thing to the right margin as well, no luck.

Thanks for trying to help though. Hopefully someone can figure it out.

Because it is an image with fixed width. Why don’t you study that theme before messing with it?

Thanks, could have gone without the criticism, but appreciate the help.
