    Dear all,

    sometimes I use password protected articles which are only for my family. The problem is:

    Subscribe2 shows the text of this article in the eMail notification as my blog shows only “This article is password protected, please enter…”.

    Is there any way to notify my family when a password protected article is published but without showing the text? The reason is that there are some other people registered who should not read these articles.

    Thanks for your help,
    SHC

  • @shc,

    There are only 2 ways I can think of that you could accomplish this:

    1) Turn off notifications for password protected posts and send a manual email to family when you have blogged a protected post.

    2) In the protected posts define an excerpt on the authoring page that tells readers its protected and requires a password to read. Emails still get sent but the post is only accessible to a chosen few.

    Thanks for your answer! Option2 is fine for me. I did not even know that there is an manual excerpt available! 🙂

    Thanks,

    @shc,

    WordPress is pretty extensive in it’s range of capabilities now – it’s pretty easy to miss some of the features. I’m glad we’ve found you a workable solution.
