  • Okay, I recently learned how to use the wordpress duplicator plugin by life on the grid. I cloned a site for demo purposes. Sort of a like test environment. I want this site to not show online and confuse customers with my real site. I see something in the admin panel that we can check to “Discourage search engines from indexing…” But it says it’s up to the search engines to honor this request. LOL!

So the question is, what other ways or methods are there? I have password protected it as well, but I just rather it not show at all.

    Thanks in advance!

  • The only way that you’ll be able to get the iste to never show to any outside server/bot/crawler/visitor/etc is to host it somwhere that’s only accessable to you. that normally means on your local machine, or on a local network that doesn’t have any public connection. The way that you’ve got it now is really fine. The only search engines that won’t honour the WP setting are ones that don’t matter anyway, and if you’ve done proper password protection on that site then the site won’t be accessible by anyone/anything that doesn’t have the password.
