Hey there! You can set posts as featured by setting them as sticky: http://codex.wordpress.org/Sticky_Posts
Hope that helps!
Great! That put the one large post at the top. And if I set several posts as sticky, they will appear below the top one in a row?
Yup, up to five featured posts total.
Perfect however is there a way to make it not affect the right hand column , right now the featured posts push the right hand widget column to far down?
The sidebar is below the featured posts section by design, but I’m sure you can change that with some smart CSS.
I see, not a huge issue, obviously not great putting stuff that far below the fold but liveable π
Hi – I also love the theme and the look you have on your website and thumbnail. I understand the ‘sticky post’ check but how do I get the image on the left and text on the right in the feature post?
@chloesweb that’s the default behavior, though since the theme is responsive, it’ll throw the excerpts below the thumbnails on smaller screens.
Thank you Konstantin. I figured out I wasn’t adding a ‘feature image’.
Hi Konstantin,
Thanks for making such a nice, flexible theme!
I like your “five featured posts” so much that I’m wanting it for my front page. However, I would prefer there to *only* be the five posts on the front page.
Do you have any advice on how I could set up a secondary posts page that would hold all the rest of the “non-sticky posts” so they wouldn’t show up on my home page?
Thank you!
@fireflip thanks! I don’t think that’s possible without altering the code in the template files, but you can use a Child Theme to do so!
Very cool, thanks for getting back to me!
Hello Konstantin,
Very nice theme, thank you!
I would also like my site to look like your preview thumbnail for this theme, 1 story at the top, then 4 underneath that in a row, imagine it like this:
_______
_ _ _ _
I have set my 5 posts as “sticky”, but they appear all underneath each other. How can I have the bottom 4 next to each other?
Regards,
Jason
Jason, thanks! You haven’t provided a URL for your website, so I can not check. Since the theme is responsive, it may be your screen is too narrow for all four posts to fit horizontally, so the theme automatically aligns them vertically.
So sorry, but it is my first site and it is far from done π Ah, it is responsive! I zoomed out and it obviously put everything as it should be, sorry for troubling you!
Though, is there maybe a way to not show the article text on the home page for the 4 lower sticky posts? If not, maybe limit the amount of characters that show?
