• I’ve enabled file uploading and have successfully uploaded several files. However, if I telnet/ssh/ftp to my web server, the owner of the file is listed as “nobody” instead of my user account.
Because of this ownership problem, I cannot delete or chmod the file. Also, it looks like my host has the *nix command chown disabled, so I can’t change the owner of the file.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what have you done to fix it? I don’t like the idea of a file on my server that I cannot delete.

    Try a different FTP app.

Thanks macmanx, but I was talking about the WordPress file upload feature, not an FTP app.

Hm, now that makes sense. I haven’t used WP’s file upload because I rarely ever want anyone but me uploading files to my site. And in that case, I just use FTP. I guess it’s part of my paranoid nature.

I just looked at my images folder as I use the WP file upload for all my post images, and they belong to me.
I can delete them just fine (this is one issue that bugs the hell out of me with many gallery programs).
