I wonder if someone can help me figure out why I can’t validate my site which is now fully powered by WordPress. I can’t validate the XTHML nor the CSS. It says it can’t find the stylesheet and for the XHTML, the error it gives is something I don’t understand.

    My site

    TIA!

  • Look in your HTML source and you will find this:

    /***********************************************
    * Swiss Army Image slide show script - John Davenport Scheuer: http://home.comcast.net/~jscheuer1/
    * This notice MUST stay intact for legal use
    * Visit Dynamic Drive at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ for full original source code
    ***********************************************/

There’s an error character in there. Get rid of it.

Thanks so much! Now I can see the errors in the XHTML and fix those.

I still don’t know why it can’t find the CSS though…

Another question. When I try to validate the “Blog” page (this one), it shows errors because an ID is being used more than once in the page. However, I’m using the sidebar widgets and I don’t know how to change it. Which file should I change?

The Links widget has a known validation issue. You can’t easily fix it, so don’t worry about it. It may be fixed in future WordPress revisions.

    Okay, thank you. 🙂

Now I just need to fix the stylesheet situation and I’m set. Any ideas on that one?

I still don’t know why it can’t find the CSS though…

Let’s see… the validator can’t find one of your CSS files because it has a space in the file name. Change the space to a _ or -.

OMG. How silly of me. I bet it’s because there’s a space in the theme name. I’ll fix that and see what happens. Thanks!

That did it! I appreciate the help so much. And I feel silly because I should have known better.

    Thanks again!
