• Hey gang,

I just switched from Joomla to WordPress. It’s been a lot of work (240 post blog), but it’s looking great!

One thing is, my theme shows the number of times my posts have been read. I like that!

Trouble is, posts with 30,000 hits on my Joomla installation are showing 30-40 hits on WordPress.

I don’t want to be scaring away potential advertisers, so how do I edit my database and get to the number of hits for each item so that I can properly reflect my site’s readership?

  • Did you change URLs while switching from Joomla? Do you have the same URLs throughout or have you changed them?

URLs were all manually re-written to be the same. What difference would that make?

If the URLs are not the same, you will lose traffic unless 301 redirects are not used.

Are you quoting the figures from Google analytics account or some other source? What really matters is what Google reports. If there is any sharp drop and if the URLs did not change, see if you still have Google analytics code installed.

In any case, you have to take up the matter with Google, as this is not a WordPress problem.

I’m not concerned about traffic. This isn’t a question about traffic my friend.

This is a question of what appears on my website. If you look at my website (it’s my username +.com) you’ll see my theme shows number of Views for every article. That’s how many times the WordPress article has been viewed. It must be drawing that View count from some database somewhere, so how do edit that entry?

    Thanks for the explanation.

You may need to ask the theme vendor as we do not support commercial themes. Ask here: themes.tielabs.com/jarida/

But I’m not trying to edit the theme. I’m trying to edit WordPress’ database. That is independent of any theme.

Do you know where in the database information for each post is stored? I’m specifically looking for where in the WP database the information about how many times each post has been viewed is.

Do you know where in the database information for each post is stored?

    Go to phpMyAdmin – wp_postmeta.

I can find only comment count, not view count. Do you know where exactly it is?
