• I wanted to ask you experts before doing this. I exported all the guts of my old WP to a new site so everything is identical up until this month. I wanted to be able to forward my old domain to my new domain keeping the same url string as that has not changed:

    Ex:
    oldsite.com/post-1
    newsite.com/post-1

I was told this was an immense effort as I have more than 5,000 posts and each one would have to be manually changed using today’s forwarding/redirecting plugin.

I was told a search and replace would better suit my needs and cam across your plugin. My question is, can you guide me through exactly what I need to do to accomplish what I am looking for?

Quick note: I am not looking to just forward the domain, I would like someone looking for – oldsite.com/some-unique-post, to be redirected to – newsite.com/some-unique-post

    Hi there
You might want to check out a 301 redirect plugin, one I use is http://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-301-redirects/ but I’m not sure how that fits with the fact that you have such a large amount of posts to deal with.

Thanks for the suggestion. A 301 plugin would work for someone who has a small amount of posts, but as you stated, being that I have over 3,500, it would be quite a tedious effort 🙂

I think manipulating that .htaccess would be the best way to go.
