We have processed about 1,000 orders with MarketPress Lite with no problems, but last night received a weird order. Payment came thru Paypal fine, with correct order # and it updated the order to paid. The purchaser was NOT charged shipping, and none of the required shipping information was filled out on our site. We received an order notification without any purchaser information.

How could a purchase bypass the shipping information request and be completed via Paypal? Is this a fluke or has someone hacked our site or ???

  • Hello there @annabananamc,
That is a really strange issue… one that I’ve never encountered before!
I’m afraid that most likely this is a PayPal issue as the order sould not have been processed in the first place without any shipping info!

Do you at least have the client’s details from PayPal?

Yes, we got shipping info from the Paypal payment confirmation. I am not sure how she GOT to Paypal without entering the shipping info on the WordPress/Marketpress page tho’.

One thought, perhaps she checked ‘doesn’t require shipping’ in Paypal, I know you can do that sometimes. I’m going to run a test and see – will post if I can figure it out.

Certainly hope we didn’t get our backend hacked!

OK, So I was able to fill in the form, then to clear out the input fields on the Shipping info form, hit submit, got error lines on the page, then hit submit again and it went right to paypal anyway. I think it had cached the info from before somewhere (maybe cookies)

However, could not get paypal to zero out the shipping, so half the mystery is solved, but not the rest.

I’ve been trying to replicate the issue and I really can’t figure out how they did it! It’s weird… If you do find out please let us know, it’s really strange!
