• I am getting the following error message when using BackWPUp

The HTTP response test get a error “connect() timed out!”The HTTP response test get a false http status ()

It happens regardless of whether I send to DropBox or Email (have not tried others).

It also happens when either scheduled backup or manual backup are selected.

NB: In the settings the Network USer and Passeword fields are blank. Is that right? Or should I have my WP user and pass in there?

    Any ideas?

  • I am having the same issue after recent server upgrades.

Was there any solution to your problem, James?

    Hi

I look after a number of sites and can not remember which this was for.

The answer is either no, my hosting site does not allow chron tasks and therefore will not let BackWPUp do it’s thing.

Or yes, I swapped out the plugin to Backdraft Plus which uploads in chunks avoiding the time out issue.

The date of my post makes me think it is the former unfortunately. But I find backdraft plus to be a bit more reliable with the sites I have it installed on.

    Hope that helps.

    Hello,

we make again support for the free version of BackWPup, but i can’t do this for all post in the past. For priority support you need a Pro version.

BackWPup Supports in the next Version chunked Uploads to.

On that message that you have postet we need more information about the server. What webserver is it, is there a reverse proxy or has the hoster blocked self requests.

Thank you both the for replies.

My host has blocked self requests, or HTTP loopback I think it’s called.

Is there a workaround with BackWPup? I am searching for alternatives now.

Update: I found some more information and will experiment with alternative WP Cron.

If your hoster has a cron configuration you cann call the wp-cron.php with it. Than activate alternative cron and deactivate wp_cron.
