  • Hey Zimrock,

Thanks for posting. Definitely seems a bit odd, as I’m able to replicate on your site too. Are you able to try disconnecting your MailChimp account in the plugin’s settings, then reconnect the account, and try again? It’s possible that perhaps maybe some issues are occurring due to previously deleted fields, and this should help to address that.

If you’re still seeing issues after reconnecting, can you post a link to your MailChimp-hosted signup form? This article walks through that here: Where do I find the link for my signup form?: http://eepurl.com/hOZs

This will allow me to take a look at your MailChimp account on my end. If you’re not comfortable posting the signup form here, feel free to email me at mailchimptk[at]gmail.com. Just make sure to post here saying you did so, so I know to expect it.

Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Logout – Reconnect didn’t work – I just sent you the form link in an email… thanks.

I have tried some different resetting with no luck, any idea on your side? Thanks…

    Hey Zimrock,

Thanks for the email. I went ahead and connected your list to my local WP setup on my end and the sign up form worked as expected, so the list does appear to be working.

One thing I noticed is that your list that you linked me to in the email had an Email Address field, a First Name field, and a Last Name field. The sign up form on your site has a Full Name field. So there does seem to be this discrepancy. Can you elaborate a bit on how the field name was changed to Full Name? Were there any changes made to the plugin code itself? If so, have you attempted to uninstall and reinstall the plugin, to see if that resolves the issue?

no changes to the plugin have been made. looks like the mailchimp fields may have changed but the plugin reflects the old setup. delete and reinstall does not reset the plugin database, how do i clear that so it grabs the new setup fields from mailchimp?

    Hey Zimrock,

Sorry to hear that you’re still seeing the issue! This one’s definitely a bit odd, as I’m not able to replicate the issue on my end. It’s not typical that there would be anything stored or carried over if a complete reinstallation is performed, so that makes things a bit stranger as well, especially when factoring in the discrepancies between your list’s form fields and what’s on your site right now. Were you able to clarify how “Full Name” came to be? Was that perhaps an old field name in your list, that has since been changed or perhaps deleted?

One thing that I recommend trying is that if you have access to either a local WP setup or any separate WP setup (perhaps one setup in a testing environment in parallel on your server), are you able to give the plugin a try and replicate the issue of seeing that ‘old’ information in your forms?

There’s a few more alternatives that I’d offer for consideration:
    1) Try generating a new API key in your MailChimp account, then using that new key in your plugin’s settings area. While API Keys will not carry anything information over that would cause the issue you’re describing, the process of generating a new API key, logging out of your current account in your plugin’s settings, and re-establishing the connection with the new key, may provide a solution by definitively refreshing your list’s settings.
    2) You may consider utilizing the embed code, which is provided for each list in your MailChimp account, instead. This HTML embed code will allow you to copy and paste the signup form code into a WP widget and utilize that to capture signups. Keep in mind that you’ll have to choose a non-JS embed code, or the classic form with JS-disabled.

I look forward to hearing back!

ok, i deleted the plugin, created a new api, and made the last name a required field (like the first name), then i re-installed the plugin, logged out of the plugin (as it brought back the same state as before), used the new api, updated the list, and put the widget back in the sidebar and all is fixed. i now have the new required fields and correct names, etc. not sure what happened, but working now.
