Hi I am completely new, but I've been looking at wordpress and it seems great. Here's my question.
What I'd like to do, is have a blog where I have tons of categories, with tons of information within each category. I want anyone that creates an account on my blog, to be able to add whatever insight they have to whichever category they wish.
Can I do this with wordpress?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Everything you mentioned is a basic feature of wordpress, except for this. Generally, you have to give somebody "author" permissions to let them write a post (although anybody can comment on a post). But there may be a plugin to make it so anybody can register and be an author right away.
Sounds more like you want a wiki, though?

See Options > General, New User Default Role. 'Contributors' can also submit posts, but only as drafts. An editor or admin would need to ok (publish) it.

Hmm, I suppose a wiki would be what I'm looking for here. I do have a question about wiki real quick though...is it possible to put your own ads on your wiki page?
I would be stunned if any wiki software you downloaded did not provide a way for you to edit the site's appearance (and therefore insert ads), but this isn't really the place to learn how to do it...
