• Hello,
As much as I love wordpress and how it is helping everyone build a website, I think their support system is quite week! I have been posting questions that have been left unanswered. I noticed this is happening to other people’s question. I ended up compensating the person who was answering my questions on the WP forum!
I think word press needs some developers to answer the forum effectively!!!!

    Thanks

Great – I just replied to 5 of the ones you made in the last day…

and here is what was posted:

These forums are all volunteer – if you have a critical time urgent matter, the response will always be to consider hiring an expert. It is unfair to all other if we pay attention only to you…

As Seacoast pointed out these are 100% staffed by unpaid volunteers who do this free support on their own time.

I ended up compensating the person who was answering my questions on the WP forum!

    Who was that person?

Here’s why I am asking: these forums are not for anyone to solicit work. If you need more support than is offered here the you can post a job offering at http://jobs.wordpress.net/ or one of the other available job boards.

If you are not satisfied with the level of free support here then paying someone was the correct thing to do.

@memastudio, Then why not help others out? Ethically you could aim to help 20 people out for every 1 person that has helped you out.

That is literally how these forums and WordPress.org in general operates (on good will).

@jan and Andrew: I am so impressed that word press forum is running by volunteers. Thanks for letting me know, I didnt know that. I still think there is room for improving it by word press getting more involved. It is a movement in web design that anyone with no background can design a web. Obvieously with a little help here and there. So thank you all for helping those including myself who get stock in the process.
    Cheers

@seacoast: there was no need that you go post a very similar thing 5 times! you could have taken the time and helped someone by responding to their questions. I did repost the questions that I hadn’t received answers for a long time, in one day. However, I didnt think that meant that I needed all attention to ONLY ME! I appreciate if you delete your posts!!

I still think there is room for improving it by word press getting more involved.

I believe the point that @andrew and @jan were getting to here is that there is no ‘WordPress’ to get more involved. The whole show here is a group of volunteers. The software is made, coded, supported, etc. by volunteers. All we can do is encourage more folks to get involved in support to try to help the most people.

Don’t confuse WordPress.org, the software over here with a commercial product like WordPress.COM which is owned by Automattic and has paid folks. The naming is confusing, but the 2 are independent. There literally is noone but us volunteers to help!

I appreciate if you delete your posts

@seacoast is actually unable to delete his posts. As is the case for all members. The option to edit/delete goes away rather quickly after making a post. In general, no posts are deleted here on WordPress.org as you can see in the welcome statement here:
