Does anyone know how to delete the search, archives, meta display on posts in the visual wp theme?

Those are generally widgets in the sidebar – look under Appearance > Widgets – in which case you can drag/drop them out. If that’s not what you mean, a link to your site would be useful.

I did go into appearance-widgets but I was not able to delete it

Try adding an empty Text widget.
