• I have a problem getting a shipping class added at checkout. My default option for products is free shipping, but I want to add an additional £4.99 postage charge for specific products. So I added a shipping class, and assigned it to the product. But when I tested it, the extra shipping cost is not added to the cost of the product at checkout. Instead 2 radio buttons appear allowing the buyer to choose free shipping or the extra flat rate of £4.99. How do I get the £4.99 to be added automatically at checkout?

  • Can’t you just use flat rate and set the cost per order and “any class” to £0, then add your class with the extra charge?

Thank you. I tried that and it worked! Having both Free Shipping and Flat Rate enabled seemed like the correct option at first, but not so. I now only have Flat Rate enabled, and cost per order/item set to £0.00.

Or you can also still enable the free shipping option but just set a certain purchase amount before the free shipping is available. This way, you can provide an incentive to your customer who places big orders.
