• I have a site that is html (xxxx.org) plus a WP blog at xxxx.org/blog
We want to convert the whole site to WP. I can generate the pages in WP that look like the html pages so the site is complete in WP.
My question is how to move it to top level i.e. xxxx.org and not xxxx.org/blog.
Can I just move it all up using the hosts file editor? that would seem to be too easy!
    Thanks for any help

  • You should discuss this with your host – basically you should be able to use their tools to point that main domain to the sub-folder … look at Moving WordPress.

If you cannot, then, yes, you will have to move the folders and still review above link – note: download the current site at root first! (keep a current backup)

Thanks – I have raised the question with the hosts also.

The hosts say they have a redirection tool that I can use, so should be OK.
    Thanks for your time.
