   I can only say that this plugin isn't for high traffic sites. I installed it on my blog and it took 20 minutes to crash the server. With wp-cache installed the crash came after 2 hours. After removal of this plugin the server works without problems.

   Any logs or other specifics to help plugin author diagose the problem?

   List of plugins you have installed may help.

   Web-server software and version, MySQL version, and PHP version, and name of host also helpful.

   bluemi332: Depending on how you define high, my personal point of view would be to agree with you, wp-useronline is not recommended for high traffic sites.

   High traffic is something like 100,000 daily pageviews.

   Linux/Apache
   PHP 4.3.9
   MySql 4.1.10a

   Plugins:
   All in One SEO Pack, BackUpWordPress, Bad Behaviour, Bot Tracker, FLV Embed, KB Advanced RSS Widget, Page Link Manager, Ultimate Google Analytics, wp-cache

   Sie is running since 2 days without problems now, so it must have been UserOnline that crashed the server.

   100k daily pageviews is definitely a lot and wp-useronline is not very efficient I must admit.

   I would add one more thing, even with efficiency problems, the Plugin is quite informative.

   Wish it could take less resources.

   If your site is on high traffic, I would not even recommend a useronline plugin as no matter how efficient the plugin is, it would still require at least 2-3 queries per page load just for the plugin itself.

    GamerZ, the plugin author has already answered.

    If you want to keep track of user activites, you can use following web services. These services keeps track of your visitors, their activites on your site and alot. In addition, you can also display "Total users online".

    1. Histats
    2. Site Meter
    3. StatCounter

    These services'll not display user activites in real-time. As anything to show realtime'll definitely take-up lots of your resources.
