missing content, themes install incorrectly

    I’ve intalled wordpress on a LAMP server at home, running linuxmint 14. first server I ever made.

    the words show up but none of the media or formatting. when I went to update original themes they didn’t install correctly, then I changed the file permissions and everything worked with the ftp download..

    Use FTP to check whether the complete them you have selected is there. Try switching to default 2011 theme to see if issue is actually theme related.

    What permissions do you have on the themes folder?

    I’ve set the permissions on every to 766, and tried 777. but no luck. the original/default themes are ‘broken’ from me clicking the update button on them. that was the beginning of my problems.
