Latest versions of both SEO Ultimate and WP, running with a self-developed theme.

I’m wondering if there is a speed issue with SEO Ultimate. My client has been complaining about the slowness of the site for a while now, which has been getting progressively slower as the site grows.

I’ve run the P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) plugin and gained some interesting insights. With SEO Ultimate activated, my site’s average load time is 10 seconds, with 6.7 seconds of that attributed to SEO Ultimate.

However, with SEO Ultimate disabled the average load time is 1.68 seconds.

I have checked various settings, and most of the more deep-rooted routines, such as Deeplink Juggernaut, are disabled and the Title Tag Rewriter is set to use filtering.

    The URL is http://www.pad-fairs.com/paris

I’d be interest if anyone has any insight into this.

    Cheers

    Peter

Well, since no-one from the developer has answered this, I shall enlighten you myself.

Upon further testing, this time with http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ I was getting a page load of 12 seconds with SEO Ultimate installed. Turned off, the page load was 5 seconds.

With All In One SEO Pack installed and configured, the page load was still 5 seconds – ie, no discernible overhead!

Therefore, the only conclusion to draw was that SEO Ultimate is a dreadful resource hog and slow plugin. This has been born out across all 8 sites that I manage – all have seen significant improvements with SEO Ultimate replaced by All In One SEO!

Sorry SEO Ultimate guys – I used to love your plugin!

The good news is that the SEO Data Transporter converted all of my keywords and meta descriptions without a hassle!

    Hi Peter:

Granted, there are a few more intensive modules that are impacted by the availability memory on the server (which in shared hosting environments is not always an easy work-around).

Sorry to see you go back to AIOSP, but, if you are not using the Deeplink Juggernaut or 404 Monitor, the impact on the server is much less.

We intend on addressing the code in a premium version, but with tens of thousands spent on developing this (as our own SEO toolbox which we decided to share with others as a FREE plugin) we simply cannot facilitate rewriting the autolink engine in this version.

So, either minimize those modules or keep you seatbelt fastened for the premium version which will launch after the debut of our WordPress Framework.

    All the best Peter!
