    Hello,

I have searched and cannot find specifically what the solution to my problem is...

I recently purchased a site that is built on Wordpress. I want to change it from the sellers host/server to mine. We are able to do it...

    EXCEPT...

all of the blogroll links do not come up. The are just gone. We have tried ftp and xml file.

What can we do so I can have all the blogroll links on my server. There are a lot and they are useful for the purpose of the site...losing them would be a big deal. :(

Any help would be VERY appreciated!

And if I some how missed the answer please forgive me and give me a link!

    THANK YOU!!!

Go to the Admin Pages. See how it has Blogroll->Import Links? This will let you import links from an OPML file/URL.

WordPress can also generate OPML from the blogroll links, all you have to do is add wp-links-opml.php to your blog address. So if your old blog is http://example.com/blog/ you'd type in a URL of http://example.com/blog/wp-links-opml.php to get the OPML from that blog.

So, put in that URL on the site that you want to import them to, and it will get them from the old server and import then into the new server. Clever, huh?

OK...here is the problem...the site cannot be up on bother servers at once. :( Once we transfer the nameservers the old site is not there any longer. :(

Do you know what I mean?

Okay then, generate the OPML and save it to a file first. The OPML importer can take input from a file as well, if you look closely.

Or use the IP address of the old server directly: http://127.0.0.1/blog/wp-links-opml.php

How exactly you do it in your situation is beside the point, there's lots of ways. The important thing here is a) generate OPML and b) feed it to the importer.

"Go to the Admin Pages. See how it has Blogroll->Import Links?"

I can't find that. Can't even find "blogroll". I see "links", but no import link, only "add new."

See "import", but nothing to import links.

I suppose I'm not on the "admin" pages, where are they?

    Using 2.6

And can't I just copy/paste the links from one file to the next? Editing EACH link is just so cumbersome and I don't necessarily want to transfer ALL links from one blog to another.
