Including hyperlink in sent emails

    Hi – I’m using File Monitor Plus to inform members of a Town Council when new agendas and minutes have been uploaded to their website prior to a Council meeting. It works exceptionally well except in just one respect and I wondered if you might be prepared to point me to where I can make some adjustments. I have set it up so that there will be 15 Councillors receiving the email. The email they receive indicates the newly uploaded file but not as a hyperlink. Since many of them are barely computer literate it would be a nice and appropriate touch if I could make the name of the uploaded file into a hyperlink.
    And I wonder if you can confirm that the recipients of these emails will not be able to use the “Clear admin alert” because they are not logged in. I don’t want them to be able to do this; I’d prefer to do it myself.

    Hi Peterrodger,

    Please be aware that this plugin your are using is not designed to be used in the way you are using it.

    If you insist on using this plugin to do what you want then the only way to achieve what you are after would be to edit the plugins files itself.

    To alter the email alert HTML you need to alter the function format_alert() found in /wordpress-file-monitor-plus/classes/wpfmp.class.php

    Here you can remove the clear admin alert however this will remove the clear admin alert in the admin too.

    Also from here you can change how the file location is shown. Instead of showing a absolute path to the file you could give a URI instead.

    I would urge you to look for another plugin that is designed to do what you are after.

    Hi Scott, thanks for the prompt reply. I bow to your better knowledge of the plugin, but I can’t see why it shouldn’t be used for this purpose unless, for example, there is some security issue I’m not aware of.
    Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for amending it. I have been searching for some time for a way to do this and have come up against the proverbial brick wall in terms of other plug ins. I’m a designer rather than a program/coder so sorting out a coded solution isn’t a practicality for me, I’m afraid.
