• This is the third time I tried to post my article on Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper and it keeps causing my whole blog to go all “404 error” on me. I moved it to the trash and my blog looks fine right this minute. I tried with another article I wrote on a related topic and it works fine. Could having Gordon Cooper as a main keyword or something be triggering the 404 error thing?

No. I just tried it on my test installation. It published fine.

Odd. I know for sure it isn’t one of my plug-ins like I thought it was at first. I’m copying the article over from LibreOffice Writer and I figured it might be that one I added recently to prevent plagiarists from copy-and-pasting my posts, but disabling it had no effect.

Deactivate all plugins and see if it helps. If it does, activate them one at a time and see if the problem returns. Like that identify the plugin.

This may not working because you are copying the article from LibreOffice Writer and pasting to the WordPress editor.

When we paste content in WordPress editor, there are chances of unwanted html tags.

Try “Paste as Plain Text” option of WordPress editor to paste content. http://snag.gy/vH5yz.jpg OR switch the WordPress editor to text mode and then paste the content.

^^I did try disabling the plugins, mostly because I had added a few. I’ll try the “Paste as Plain Text” thing and see if that works.

I’m still getting the 404 error. Kinda annoying…I know for sure that it’s not making posts in general because Deke Slayton posted OK.

Is there somebody at WordPress (official) that I can tell about this? Kinda weird that Gordon Cooper is being singled out…

No. There are no “WordPress officials”. WordPress is free software and this free, volunteer-staffed forum is the only support resource available via wordpress.org. This not a WordPress issue per se but it could be a server security configuration issue. See: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/cant-save-a-post-or-page-with-certain-text

Try a different new post. Maybe the site is just running out of resources. There are multiple, multiple javascript errors and the site won’t validate.

Commandrix – This sounds … suspicious. If kmessinger’s advice doesn’t help, check with your host if you’re hitting Mod Security walls.

OK. I tried the “new post” thing a couple of times. Esmi, I’m looking for that file mentioned in that post you linked to. Maybe things got changed around since that one was posted?

Pardon? Things got changed around where?

    (@commandrix)

I’m thinking of WordPress updates. Maybe names got changed or something, because I’m not seeing that Mod Security.

No. This has nothing to do with WordPress as it does not impose any limitations on the text that you use in posts or Pages. If anything it’s a server mod_security issue.

Noted. I’m going back and forth with my Web host about whether it is mod_security. I told them I already know it’s not my plugins.
