• I’ve been posting a ot lately trying to find out how to tweak custom styled categories into my themes. The Sandbox seems to have this ability but other themes do not. If you know how to do this, I would appreciate your response. Also, while I am here I wanted to link to a post just made about tweaking themes.

Those were hard learned tips. I hope they help someone out there. I sure have gotten a lot of help from here and the blogosphere.

  • You will have to define a bit more precisely the “custom styled categories”.

Are you talking about the ‘category archives view’ (i.e. when clicking on a category name) or about single post view… or what?

If you check “quotes” category it looks like a quote post.

I came across this post after struggling with styling the Category Listing in my sidebar. Using the parameters for wp_list_categories described here, and tips on styling lists from here, I eventually ended up choosing to use the &style=none, and &title_li= arguments to the function, and then styling #sidebar ul li a {} in my stylesheet to taste. I’m not sure how else to get my desired effect which was to show the RSS image and the link on the same line. It seems like there is a <br> in the function itself was was making the image appear on it’s own line?
